Galaxy Hut opened in 1990 as the DC area’s first craft beer bar, and the first bar in the now booming Clarendon nightlife district of Arlington, Virginia. Galaxy Hut’s 28 taps are constantly in flux, with a focus on small-batch and hard to find offerings. Galaxy Hut’s kitchen focuses on hand-held comfort food, with everything on the menu available vegan as well as meat-laden. Since the early 1990s, Galaxy Hut has hosted local and national indie-rock bands a couple nights per week, and holds a crucial place in DC’s musical history. Over the past 25 years the tiny room has hosted the National, Godspeed! You Black Emperor, the Strokes, St. Vincent, the Dismemberment Plan, Low, Unrest, The Black Eyes, and Calvin Johnson among countless other intimate showcases.
